Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order arrive?

The majority of products are handmade to order, standard orders are dispatched 5-7 days after you place the order. You can choose your delivery option at checkout. Read the delivery & returns policy.

Custom orders (e.g. wedding bouquet preservation) take up to four weeks to dispatch, this is to give enough time for the flowers to dry and to make the products.

Please bear in mind that as I am a sole trader, sometimes shipping times are delayed due to personal reasons e.g. illness or family emergencies. In these instances I contact the customer to make them aware at the earliest opportunity.

I live locally, can I collect my candle?

If you would prefer to collect your order from OX17, please select this from the shipping options. You’ll receive an email as soon as your order and to arrange collection. Remember to check your junk folder as sometimes emails may land in there!

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! Please bear in mind that your order might take a while to arrive as it makes its way through customs. JoCo Candles is insured to ship worldwide, excluding the United States. Unfortunately if you place an order from the United States, your order will be cancelled and refunded.

Are JoCo candles vegan?

Yes! All pressed flower candles are made with 100% rapeseed or soy wax (depending on what is available). Both the wax and the fragrance and essential oils used do not come into contact with any animal products.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Gift boxes are available to add to all pressed flower candles (9cl, 20cl and 30cl) for a small additional cost of £3. If you would like to send a candle as a gift straight to someone’s door, just select the gift wrap option on the product you’re ordering and it will arrive in a gift box and finished off with ribbon.

Candles come in branded cotton drawstring pouches as standard.

What is the safest way to use my candle?

Each pressed flower container candle features real flowers so to ensure that the product is safe for you to use, the flowers/foliage are sealed to the glass using a non-toxic sealant so that the flowers are protected as the candle burns down.

The dried flower bottle candle holders must always be used with the metal candle holder included with your order to ensure the dried flowers inside are protected from the candle flame.

JoCo products have been tested to make sure they are safe, however it is still essential to adhere to the following safety advice:

To prevent fire and serious injury, never leave a burning candle unattended, burn candles out of reach of children and pets, keep away from drafts and vibrations and never burn candle on or near anything that can catch fire. The glass may become hot during use so avoid touching it whilst burning the candle. Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Extinguish when 5mm of wax remains and do not relight.

What is the best way to care for my candle?

If you’re order has become particularly cold in shipping, some of the wax may have lifted from the glass (that is because natural wax expands in warm weather and shrinks in cool weather). Once the candle is back in a warm, dry home, the wax should adjust again.

On the first burn, always burn your candle for 3-4 hours (or until the melted wax has reached the edge of the glass) to ensure an even melt pool. Trim the wick to 5mm each time before lighting and keep candles free of any foreign materials including matches and wick trimmings for the best possible burn.

To make the most of your products it is recommended that you burn the candle within one year of purchase, this is because over time the fragrance can dull and the colour in the flowers will fade.

The keep your product looking it’s best for as long as possible, keep out of direct sunlight, in a warm room and away from any damp.

I’ve finished my candle, what do I do now?

Once you’ve got to the end of your candle, you can either recycle the glass or you can clean it out and reuse it with a tealight in it! The lid can be kept and used as a coaster. Unfortunately refills are not available due to insurance.
